Why does hair from FUE Hair Transplant fall off in 1-3 months?
Hair falling out
Jan 28, 2022
Regardless of whether you have FUE or FUT, it will take on average 3-4 months for the new follicles to recover from the shock or trauma that they have endured in the process of being transferred. This same shock process can occur with any surrounding native hair as well–which would also take months to recover.
Almost all of the hairs in the grafts will fall out and then regrow at that time. If a native hair has shock loss, it should recover. However, if there is a vellus hair or a hair…
Is my donor hair enough for another hair transplant?
FUT recommended
Jan 28, 2022
Our practice if made up of over 50% African American clients and this exact hair texture. Most would agree the for this type of hair, FUT is a better option. That said, based on what I can see with the pictures you submitted, you might be in danger of over harvesting should you have more FUE. It already appears that some of the punch scars have aggregated and as a result there is a “chewed out” appearance to your donor.
FUT, while leaving you a small linear scar, would be the best option…
Will smoking before my FUE transplant affect the procedure?
Smoking
Jan 28, 2022
Smoking before and after a hair transplant can affect the growth. It is great that you have cut down prior and are currently quitting. I would encourage you to quit indefinitely for a myriad of health reasons. The nicotine in cigarettes (and yes, vapes) causes the tiny blood vessels in the skin to clamp down and decrease the amount of vital blood supply for the new grafts. With our patients, quitting for at least a month after a hair transplant is recommended. 2 cigarettes per day before the…
Do I have to take fin or the other hair loss type pills after a hair transplant?
Finasteride
Jan 25, 2022
You are NEVER required to take ANY medication after a transplant for the grafted hair to survive. Those treatments, as you probably know, are only to slow the progression of loss of the rest of your native hair.
The only treatments that actually work are finasteride, minoxidil and laser therapy and possible PRP. In order of efficacy, my experience is that finasteride is the most effective, but also highest in risk of side effects. Minioxidil and laser are similar in the degree of effect,…
How quickly after hair transplant can I do micropigmentation?
SMP
Jan 25, 2022
I would tend to agree more with your original surgeon. Typically I want my patients to wait at least 9 months after a transplant to do any type of scalp micro pigmentation . Any scar will continue to reorganize for many months after a transplant.
What medication would I be taking before during and after a FUE HT?
Medications
Jan 25, 2022
Short answer: Before the transplant–nothing. During the procedure the use of a local anesthetic and sometimes injectable steroid (for swelling) and saline (salt water). After the procedure usually pain medication which is optional in addition to an antibiotic. Some clients take preventative medications long-term after the procedure, but these are not required for a hair transplant to succeed–rather slow the progression of the loss of the rest of the natural hair.
Overall, a very minimal…
Am I eligible for Hair transplant?
Eliigiblity!
Jan 25, 2022
You are certainly a candidate for a hair transplant, as long as you are aware of a realistic expectation and result. You have a large area to fill, and likely will require at least 2 sessions to address all areas. But you appear to have great donor hair to work with in the back.
Finasteride and Minoxidil are good ideas as well if you can tolerate. You may see some improvement to the central and back areas with these. Good Luck!
