These vein inflammations are fortunately not very common and they will resolve on their own in 3-4 weeks average. As mentioned by other surgeons, warm compresses and antiinflamatories help some.
My surgeon wants to try to fix this in his office, not in an operating room. Thoughts?

My first opinion is that it’s too soon to jump in and do corrective surgery at this point , only 4-5months after the initial surgery and post surgical complications. I agree with another surgeon that suggested a 2nd opinion.

It is unlikely that your allergy to adhesives had any influence on the outcome. Tissue necrosis is a well known “potential” complication from surgery and well trained surgeons use their best techniques to minimize their occurrence. With good wound care and patience your area should heal well soon and if needed your surgeon can perform a small revision.

If you are looking to improve the appearance of your abdomen, definitely a correction of the two main issues, repair of the umbilical hernia and upper diastasis correction can be performed through a low mini abdominoplasty incision and upwards undermining. Floating the belly button for a couple of centimeters and some skin resection are options that can be discussed after a full evaluation.

The approach for an abdominoplasty has to be very “customized” for each patient as they all have different issues ie:. previous scars, amount of fat, skin elasticity, size, degree of muscle repair needed,etc. An average abdominoplasty will take approximately 3 hrs. with a “no drains” technique.
