Breast reduction with a lollipop incision leads to the formation of smaller scars, in comparison with other techniques of reduction mammoplasty. There is no incision in the pectoral fold.
However, this leads to the fact that the lollipop incision is sutured with purse-string suture for skin tightening, and then small wrinkles are formed on breasts, which will eventually disappear due to reduction of the skin.
The positive moment of this operation is the absence of the need to move the nipple, but a reduction in the breast with a vertical (lollipop) incision is not recommended when it is necessary to excise a large volume of tissue.
With a reduction in the large breast with the desire to preserve breastfeeding, reduction mammoplasty of the mammary glands is performed by vertical access.
Despite the fact that such a reduction in the breast leaves minor postoperative scars, doctors recommend this method because of the short duration of the operation and the minimum probability of complications.

One of the most popular options for surgery is a technique using a lollipop scar. With this technique, the cut of the skin is made around the areola, with a decrease in the latter and continues vertically downward to the inframammary fold. It is used with an average volume of mammary glands in order to reduce and tighten them
