There are no specific exercises to do that will reduce breast size dramatically. Weight loss and reduction of body fat composition occasionally will make a modest reduction in the size of the breast. (John E. Gross, MD, Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon)
Exercise not usually effective for breast size reduction
Women with very large breasts often have a catch-22 type of problem, in that the exercise they need to do for overall weight and health is difficult because of the large breasts.
However, exercise by itself is unlikely to reduce the breasts much.
Your health insurance may cover it if you have it. (Richard Baxter, MD, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)
Decreasing breast size non-surgically.
To my knowledge, there are few, if any exercises you can do to effectively reduce breast size. That having been said, many women report that their breasts increase in size with weight gain. The corollary of that is that if you lose weight through exercise, you may experience reduction in breast size.
You may want to look into this as a cost effective option. (Otto Joseph Placik, MD, Chicago Plastic Surgeon)
There are no exercises to significantly reduce breasts. Insurance will often cover breast reduction surgery. (John Whitt, MD (retired), Louisville Plastic Surgeon)
Options for excessively large breasts
If your breasts are extremely large, insurance may pay for the entire operation. Check with your insurance carrier to see if this is a covered procedure, and then visit some plastic surgeons who accept your insurance.
As far as exercises go, there really aren’t any that will reduce the size of your breasts. Before having any procedures done, check out some before and after pictures. (Jeffrey E. Schreiber, MD, FACS, Baltimore Plastic Surgeon)
The breast has a significant amount of fat in most women, especially if they are overweight. Losing weight will reduce the fat component of the breast and make the breast smaller. While exercise and diet are important in weight loss, diet is the most important…you need to take in less calories than you burn. I have found Weight Watchers to be one of the most effective programs for weight loss. (Timothy R. Jones, MD, Worcester Facial Plastic Surgeon)
There are no specific exercises that will reduce significantly large breasts. If you are extremely overweight and need to lose a lot of weight, then perhaps the breast size will reduce significantly as well. (Steven Wallach, MD, New York Plastic Surgeon)
There really is no way other than just plain weight loss. If you have health insurance you may be qualified for a breast reduction. (Farbod Esmailian, MD, Orange County Plastic Surgeon)
No exercise can effectively reduce breast size
No exercise can make breasts appreciably larger or smaller. If your breasts have a large fat component you MAY be able to reduce it by losing a lot of weight. But if you are young and the bulk of your breasts are made up of breast tissue, it cannot be reduced by increased activity. (Peter A. Aldea, MD, Memphis Plastic Surgeon)
Reduction of breast size by exercise?
I do not know of any exercise that would specifically reduce breast size, however many women with enlarged breasts would benefit from weight reduction in general and exercise would help.
If you have health insurance you would qualify to have this procedure covered at least in part. Another alternative would be to go to a clinic at a university hospital that has a plastic surgery residency and the cost would be considerably less. (Joel B. Singer, MD, New York Plastic Surgeon)
