Scar tissue blocks feeling in my nipple. Could I get this removed during a BA?
Scar tissue blocks feeling in my nipple
Apr 22, 2020
Hi there, thanks for your question. Removal of the scar tissue during breast augmentation is possible, but it’s more likely to increase your numbness rather than decrease it. Even if you keep your scar tissue, the augmentation itself can cause nipple numbness. This is rare, but it’s one of the risks of surgery, because if the implant is large enough, it’ll stretch the nipple and cause numbness. When you consult with your board-certified plastic surgeon, be sure to…
450cc breast enlargement, dropped and no longer full at top, is this normal?
Breast implant dropped
Feb 20, 2019
Hi there, thanks for your question and your photos. Based on your description and your photos, it seems like the implant capsule might have stretched out over time, allowing the implant to slide downward and outward (toward your side), rather than staying high and toward the middle. I encourage you to talk to a board-certified plastic surgeon if you haven’t already. An in-person examination will help determine whether you need a revision surgery like repair of the breast…
Will 450CC moderate plus profile get from 32A to 32 full C or small D cup?
Going from A to D
Sep 19, 2018
Hi, thanks for your question. Without a physical exam, it’s hard to say for sure. Two different women “wearing” the same size implant can have a very different look. If you have broad shoulders or carry more in the midsection, a 450cc implant may resemble a modest C-cup. However on a smaller frame, 450cc can appear like D-DD cup. To get a more definitive answer, schedule an in-person consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!
Would I need a breast lift with my breast implants?
To lift or not to lift
Sep 19, 2018
Hi there, thanks for your question and your photos. It’s difficult to say for sure without a physical exam and measurements, but it’s true that inserting a large enough implant will lift the breast to a small degree. The reason is because a deflated breast has too much skin and not enough internal tissue to fill up the skin. To correct the deflated appearance, your plastic surgeon can either fill up the skin (with an implant), or remove extra skin (with a breast lift). …
Breast reduction and lift on May 7th, 2018 and my skin has been peeling so much. Opinion?
Skin peeling
May 22, 2018
Hi there, thanks for your question and the photos. It’s extremely common for skin to peel after surgery. In darker-skin patients, sometimes the peeling will take away the pigment of your skin, which is usually temporary. Be sure you’re using gentle cleansers (no alcohol) and continue keeping your skin and yourself hydrated, as you’ve been doing. Stay in close contact with your plastic surgeon, especially if things look like they’re changing for the worse. Good luck!
After pregnancy I was left with loose skin and marks what Type of surgery can I do to fix this? how
Post-pregnancy body
May 22, 2018
Thanks for your question and the photos. A tummy tuck with liposuction will be very helpful in tightening the skin and the muscle, as well as removing many (but not all) of the stretch marks. One thing you should consider is that after surgery, you can expect anywhere from 2-6 weeks of activity restrictions. If you have small children at home, it’s best to plan ahead so you can get help when you need it. Also, if you’re within 1 year of having a baby, your body may still…
Will my implant even out or is there something wrong? I’m 2 weeks post op.
Will my implant even out?
May 22, 2018
Thanks for your question and your photos. Hard to believe, but asymmetry is very common after surgery. Typically your appearance will change for the better within the first 6 weeks, and it’s really only 3 months later that you’ll see your final results. Be patient, and keep in close contact with your plastic surgeon! Good luck.
Lipo or tummy tuck? Please help
Lipo or tummy tuck?
May 1, 2018
Hi, thanks for your question and your photos. Pregnancy will change your body, as you know. Any surgical results from tummy tuck or liposuction may be completely undone by pregnancy. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, I would recommend you wait to have surgery until you’re finished having kids. Good luck!
How to achieve a smooth and natural transition of the upper breast implant?
Upper pole smoothness
May 1, 2018
Hi, thanks for your question and your photos. To smooth the transition between your chest and the breast implants, it’s important to mask the border of the implant with tissue. For women with enough breast tissue, the breast tissue will cover the top edge of the implant, providing that smooth transition. For thin women and women with smaller breasts, I recommend a dual-plane pocket, so the top part of the implant is masked by the pectoralis muscle. If you haven’t already,…
Will boobs drop because I’m young?
Will boobs drop because I’m young?
May 1, 2018
Hi, thanks for your question. The short answer is yes, the breasts will droop as you get older. Without an in-person examination, it’s difficult to say whether that drooping will occur quickly (within a few years) or slowly (after 10 years). However, no matter what kind of plastic surgery is performed, gravity and time eventually win. Other natural processes like weight changes, pregnancy and breastfeeding will also change the appearance and shape of your…
After a circumareolar mastopexy will there be any feeling in the nipples?
Nipple numbness
May 1, 2018
Hi, thanks for your question. It’s not uncommon for the nipples and areolae to be temporarily numb after circumareolar mastopexy. Usually sensation will return to normal within the first 3 months. However, if you’ve previously had circumareolar incisions, or a previous breast augmentation above the muscle, any additional surgery increases the risk that numbness may be longer-lasting or permanent.
Regarding cup size, it’s difficult to estimate post-operative cup size without…
Should I wear a compression garment even if I have open wounds?
Compression garment
May 1, 2018
Hi there, thanks for your question and thank you for providing photographs. If you haven’t already done so, I highly encourage you to reconnect with your plastic surgeon to discuss your wound healing. Generally, the compression garment will reduce your swelling and discomfort after surgery. However, if the garment is very tight or hot, any extra moisture may slow down your healing. The best thing you can do is follow up with your surgeon to make a plan.
My breasts are super swollen — is this normal 5 days post-op?
Swelling after breast reduction
Feb 16, 2018
Hi, thanks for your question and the photos. It’s very normal to be swollen 1 week after surgery, but if you notice your breasts getting progressively larger, or more painful, then I would be concerned for a complication such as seroma or hematoma. I recommend reaching out to your plastic surgeon if you haven’t already done so. Good luck!
Breast asymmetry 3 weeks post breast reduction
Breast asymmetry
Feb 16, 2018
Hi, thanks for your question and for posting photos. Three weeks after surgery, you’re still having some postoperative swelling that may make the breasts appear larger. Despite the fact they’re both “your” breasts, each breast swells differently and that may be contributing to your asymmetry at this time. The breasts will continue to change shape over time, and it’s typically 3-6 months before you’ll see the final shape of your breasts. Check back with your plastic surgeon…
200g from each breast not enough?
200 gm breast reduction
Feb 16, 2018
Hi there, thanks for your question. Generally speaking, your insurance company will require a minimum amount of breast tissue to be removed, so it’s still considered an “insurance” surgery if your plastic surgeon takes more than the required amount. If you are worried 200 grams isn’t enough to make the change you’re hoping for, touch base with your surgeon. It’s vital to clearly establish your desires before the actual surgery. One question to ask yourself is, “What’s…
