The omission of breast tissue (mastoptosis) is most common in middle-aged women and is due to the presence of such factors as:

– Loss of elasticity of the skin of the breast (due to age);
– Stretching after breastfeeding;
– Loss of breast volume due to age, atrophy or weight reduction;
– Bad posture (stoop).

The task of modern cosmetic mammoplasty is the achievement of the natural form of the breast, the preservation of the functions of the mammary gland.

Breast lift is performed in the presence of mastoptosis of varying severity. The operation can be performed as an independent (restoration of the form and breast lift) or simultaneously with reduction mammoplasty (breast reduction).

Reduction mammoplasty or differently, a decrease of mammary glands is an operation aimed at reducing the volume of mammary glands with possible correction of breast ptosis or asymmetry.

Operation necessarily passes or takes place under the general or common anesthesia, its or her duration makes on the average 2,5 – 4 hours. During surgery, the surgeon removes excess skin, resets the planned volume of glandular and adipose tissue, tightens the breast, giving it the desired shape and symmetry, taking into account all the wishes of the patient.

Standard reduction mammoplasty is performed with the movement of the nipple-areola complex followed by the application of cosmetic sutures and special tapes (such as Steri-strip and Micropore).

The patient stays in the hospital for 2-3 days after the operation. Sutures are removed on the 10-12th day of the postoperative period. Wearing compression linen remains one of the main medical recommendations.

The final result of the operation for a breast lift and reduction will be evaluated after 3-6 months.
