Breast Reduction Images Scars

Look at the images of the scars after breast reduction surgery (reduction mammoplasty). In the majority of cases a breast reduction cannot be accomplished without placement of scars on the breast.

These incisions are used to reshape and reposition the breast on the chest wall as well as allow the removal of excess skin.

In all cases, however, surgeons always make every effort to keep the scars as short and as inconspicuous as possible. Although nothing can erase the scars, the quality of the scars can be improved through the use of silicone gel sheeting or silicone ointment.

Surgeons start patients on silicone after the first week and we ask that they use the silicone every day, all day for 6-12 months in order to optimize the scars.

In a very few cases, when the shape of breast is satisfactory and the skin elasticity is still acceptable, then a very nice breast reduction can be accomplished by breast liposuction alone.

These cases avoid the traditional breast reduction scars entirely. Similar to a beast reduction, it is not possible have a breast lift performed without scars.

The scars post-breast reduction (or any breast surgery for that matter) do fade over time but they will not disappear completely, Scars are usually a good trade-off for the procedure for patients are undergoing, however there are ways you can manage the scars post-operatively.

Surgeons recommend to use Skin Medica’s Scar Recovery Complex. There are many scar treatment creams/gels available on the market today, however this one has strong reviews and patients are happy with the results they see from it.

It will help diminish the red/pink look of your scars much more quickly than not using it. If you are still unhappy with the appearance of your scars after one year, you can talk with your surgeon about IPL treatments, or Micro-needling. These may offer desirable results.

Scars and Breast Reduction

Unfortunately there is no way to perform a breast reduction without scars. However, the significant improvement in shape, size, weight and appearance of the breast with the improvements in back pain, neck pain, shoulder grooving, and the other problems associated with large breasts are well worth the surgery.

The scars are hidden in the nipple areolar complex at the transition between the colored portion of the nipple and the light skin of the breast, and along the breast fold. The scars also fade with time.

Breast reduction is a safe, effective way to improve the size and position of the breast, and is met with overwhelming patient satisfaction.
