Answer Snippet
What mole removal method should I use to have to least visible scar?
Careful removal.
Jan 15, 2019
It's a little hard to see the moles in the photo, but in general, careful surgical removal will permanently get rid of these lesions and leave a very acceptable scar. Plastic surgeons are experts at removing things of this nature and orienting the scar to follow the natural skin creases we all have. Another option, but one that requires two separate surgeries is to have each mole removed by cutting just beyond the border of each then allowing the circular hole to heal by itself....
Do I qualify for the mini tummy tuck?
It depends...
Jan 15, 2019
It depends on what your goals are. If you go ahead and have a mini tummy tuck (and maybe some upper abdominal liposuction) you will see significant improvement. However, if you want maximum improvement, you would need a traditional tummy tuck (abdominoplasty). This would allow the maximum amount of redundant skin to be removed and the abdominal wall can be tightened as well, which cannot really be done in a mini tummy tuck.
Is this fat or excess skin? Would this go away with weight loss and exercise or do I need an arm l
It's both...
Nov 6, 2017
Even with weight loss, it's unlikely that the loose skin would retract to a point that you would be happy with. In my practice, I first use liposuction to remove as much excess fat in the upper arm as possible and then remove the excess skin. Doing liposuction first allows much more skin to be removed and a superior result. Good luck!
I got a turf burn and I think its infected but not sure. Second opinion?
I don't think it's infected
Dec 16, 2013
Judging from your photos, it does not look infected to me. It looks like the top eschar (medical term for scab or dried, dead skin) has cracks and is beginning to separate. I would recommend simply washing with soap and water daily. This will wash away bacteria and dead skin cells. Then, apply Bacitracin or Neosporin ointment and a clean gauze dressing. Good luck.
Why did Restylane lip injection not work as expected (supposed to last a few months)?
I guess anything is possible.
Dec 14, 2013
I've had patients "absorb" or metabolize injectable fillers such as Restylane over a short period of time in the past. For most people, the fillers last and work as advertised. Injecting that much in the upper lip and having it "go away" so quickly is something I've never seen before. That doesn't mean it can't happen. Maybe your body just metabolizes that particular filler extremely fast. Perhaps you could try Radiesse. No guarantees, though! Good luck.
Alarplasty wound holes?
go see your plastic surgeon
Dec 12, 2013
It looks like the wounds have separated. You should go see your plastic surgeon and let him look at the wounds so that he may guide you. Good luck.
I would like to know if I have a fat transfer done from hips to buttocks is this a continuous proc
it depends...
Dec 1, 2013
Fat transfer can have unpredictable results in that varying amounts will survive in different patients. You might be satisfied with just one procedure, but may require two or three fat transfers to achieve the desired result. Good luck.
I had gotten a tummy tuck 9y ago. Right after my tummy tuck I got pregnant. Can I do a mini tuck?
It depends...
Nov 6, 2013
You may be a candidate for either. It depends on how much your abdominal wall was stretched out by your pregnancy. If it is fairly flat but you just have some excess fat and skin in your lower abdomen, then you could possibly have a mini-abdominoplasty. However, if your abdomen is protuberant and you have a lot of excess skin and fat, you may need a repeat full abdominoplasty. A photo would help.Good luck...
I think my drain tube is infected. What do I do?
First, call you doctor!
Oct 28, 2013
I can't tell where the tube is or if it's infected because of the picture size and quality. The last thing you want to do is bypass your doctor. Good luck...
If a nose has been broken is there always visible damage or scarring?
not necessarily...
Oct 21, 2013
It depends of how badly the nose was broken. If the bones were broken, but not displaced, usually the nose heals with little to no visible signs. Notice I said usually. Everyone and every broken nose is different. Badly broken and displaced noses are much more likely to have residual lumps, bumps, and scarring. If there is a cut on the nasal skin, it will leave a visible scar.
A Blue Stitch In My Belly?
don't worry...
Oct 21, 2013
That looks like a type of permanent suture called Prolene. It's a synthetic suture that's commonly used. It sounds like a fragment has worked it's way out. As long as there is no sign of infection like redness or swelling, you're probably fine.Good luck!
How Do I Improve the Appearance of Deep Lines Around my Mouth?
dermabrasion
Oct 18, 2013
Those deep lines are known as perioral rhytides. Many women complain about these wrinkles because of their appearance and the fact that lipstick tends to "bleed' into the lines.Resurfacing treatments are the solution. In my opinion, physician-grade dermabrasion is the procedure of choice. However, laser resurfacing and chemical peels can also yield good results. Dermabrasion is a controlled, mechanical removal of the top layer of skin with a little spinning drum covered with an abrasive....
Worth It or Not? Lost Over 150 Pounds and Now Have These Arms?
that depends...
Oct 8, 2013
It's great that you were able to lose that much weight. However, the downside for massive weight loss patients is all the excess, drooping skin that remains. It depends on what your goal is. If you want an improvement, then liposuction would remove much of the remaining fat in your upper arm and hopefully the skin would shrink somewhat, but there are no guarantees how you will heal. The upside of liposuction is quicker recovery and very small scars....
What Kind of Treatments Should I Do?
don't despair
Oct 8, 2013
Acne scarring can be frustrating. The first step would be to get your outbreaks under control to prevent new scars from forming. Acne scars fall into two basic categories. The first is the so-called "icepick" scars that are small and deep and look as if the skin was pierced with an icepick. These scars respond well to very careful, tiny surgical excisions. The second type are the wider, crater-like scars. These respond to resurfacing procedures...
I Keloid Scar, Am I a Candidate at All for Gynecomastia Surgery?
Possibly...
Oct 7, 2013
Any surgery on the chest/breast areas can lead to keloid scars. However, many times gynecomastia reduction surgery can be performed through a very small incision using liposuction cannulas and an orthopedic cartilage shaver to remove the more fibrous breast tissue itself. The incision is made on the edge of the areola and blends in quite well after healing. If the scar begins to keloid, it can be injected with a steroid that many times will prevent it from forming...
