How do Tummy Tuck scars heal/look long term?
How do Tummy Tuck scars heal/look long term?
Jan 15, 2019
Tummy tuck scars are a common concern for many patients undergoing the procedure.  Make sure to consult with a plastic surgeon who specializes in body surgery to help your scars heal as well as possible.  A lot of factors are associated with scarring.  Genetics, smoking, skin elasticity, age, and nutritional health all play a role.  Most tummy tuck scars are kept low so they can be hidden with a bikini, so even if they aren't the most ideal, they can not be seen.  That being said, most tummy...
Are these good TT results? 2 years post
Unhappy with tummy tuck
Jan 15, 2019
It is difficult to evaluate your results as "good or bad" based on just your after photos.  However, it appears that your scar has healed reasonably well and you have a nicely contoured abdomen.  If you are unhappy, though, I would recommend seeing another plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns.
How to treat this wound on incision after tummy tuck?
How to treat this wound on incision after tummy tuck?
Jan 15, 2019
My recommendation is to follow up with your plastic surgeon or his or her nurse to get help with wound care.  The suprapubic area is a common place to get some soft tissue breakdown after a tummy tuck.  It usually happens because of poor blood supply to the area right after surgery.  Often, this area heals very well with some wound care and time.

I've loss over 100 lbs and I have alot of loose skin. My questions is what procedure should I research?
Jan 15, 2019
Well done on your weight loss! My recommendation is to focus on the body area that bothers you the most.  Most often, though, the "biggest bang for the buck" after massive weight loss is a body lift.  This helps reshape your buttock and abdomen to reveal the skinny person underneath.  Most patients can start to wear smaller clothing sizes after this surgery which really boosts their confidence. Another common surgery is breast lift (with or without implant) and an arm lift.  Lastly, patie...
Nipples not at the same level after BL and BA. Will I need a revision?
Nipples not at the same level after BL and BA. Will I need a revision?
Dec 14, 2018
You look great!  Well done on your transformation! It is a beautiful result so far.Concerning your nipple asymmetry, I would wait for full healing to take place (several months from now) to allow all the settling to occur.  At that point, if there is still an asymmetry, a small revision (usually with local anesthetic) can be done.  As you are healing, the swelling resolves over 6 months.  Although the nipples were placed the same intraoperatively, with healing, different laxity issues can...
Do I need a lift with my implants?
Do I need a lift with my implants?
Dec 14, 2018
After viewing your photos, the better question to ask is "What appearance do I want after a breast augmentation?"  A dual plane augmentation that is performed lifts the nipple slightly (maybe 1cm), but generally only adds back lost volume.  If you feel that the aesthetic breast is more perky, then you would require a lift to get that appearance.  It is best to be evaluated by a plastic surgeon to discuss your desires.
4 months post. Are my breast bottoming out? Do I need another lift?
4 months post. Are my breast bottoming out? Do I need another lift?
Dec 14, 2018
This does not appear to be bottoming out.  Rather, the swelling from your surgery is resolved and the implants are in their final position.  As the swelling decreases, the tissue gets more lax.  You had loose skin prior to your surgery (thus requiring the breast lift), and some of that laxity has returned.  I would recommend visiting your plastic surgeon to get some options about addressing your concerns.

Congratulations on your weight loss!  You look great!Looking at your photos, I think you would be a good candidate for an arm lift.  You have to have reasonable expectations about the scar, but often a scar is better to deal with than loose skin.  Speak with surgeons who are experienced with aesthetic procedures after massive weight loss.  Not all plastic surgeons perform these procedures, and some may not be as comfortable with it.
Wearing Bra After Breast Augmentation by Fat Transfer?
Wearing Bra After Breast Augmentation by Fat Transfer?
Nov 20, 2018
The best person to ask is your plastic surgeon who performed the procedure.  He or she intimately knows the surgery that they performed and can steer you in the right direction for your postoperative recovery.  Fat transfer to the breast is living tissue that is moved from one place on the body to another.  The fat needs to establish a blood supply once it is transferred so that it can survive.  This is done by immobilizing the fat with a bra that gives support, but not too much press...
When can I stop wearing a bra at night after my breast reduction?
When can I stop wearing a bra at night after my breast reduction?
Nov 20, 2018
It is best to follow the advice and suggestions of your plastic surgeon when asking about post operative care.  He or she knows intimately the procedure that they performed and the correct  post operative course to take.  I generally tell my patients to wear a post operative bra for about 6 weeks after their reduction surgery.  It often helps with the swelling. That being said, there is no right answer to this because each individual is different.
Why no vitamin E before surgery? How long before should I stop?
Why no vitamin E before surgery? How long before should I stop
Nov 20, 2018
Vitamin E taken orally can cause increased bleeding during and after surgery.  For this reason, it is usually stopped 2 weeks prior to any procedure.  Postoperatively, it can be resumed after an appropriate time.  Vitamin E can be beneficial for wound healing, so eating a healthy diet is important.  For scars, though, topically applied medical grade silicone is the best.  Foods rich in Vit E are nuts, seeds, and avocados.  Follow the instructions given to you by your plastic surgeon.  He or ...
Is it normal to have asymmetrical arms 10 weeks post arm lift and liposuction?
Is it normal to have asymmetrical arms 10 weeks post arm lift and liposuction?
Nov 20, 2018
Your photos show arms that appear symmetric.  The irregularity that you are indicating can not be clearly seen.  That being said, your arms can show asymmetry for several months after surgery because of swelling differences.  It takes a full 6 months after surgery to have all the swelling resolved.  Also, you may have had differences in your arms preoperatively.  This can account for their differences postoperatively.  In any case, it is best to follow up with your plastic surgeon to addre...
Should I be worried about these indentations?
Should I be worried about these indentations?
Nov 20, 2018
You are early in your post op recovery period.  These concerns could be due to normal increased swelling, too much compression, too little compression, or fluid collection from the surgery.  In any case, your surgeon will help guide you in your healing process.  A tummy tuck needs at least 6 months before complete healing has taken place and all the swelling has resolved.  Make sure to follow up with your surgeon.
Extra skin on vagina, big labia, Hymen not over opening?
Extra skin on vagina, big labia, Hymen not over opening?
Nov 20, 2018
This looks like a normal vaginal opening with normal labia minora and majora.  You are young and hormonal changes will cause this area of your body to change with time.  The labia minora (the inner lips) can sometimes protrude beyond the labia majora (outer lips) in 1 out of 5 women.  This is a variant of normal anatomy.  However, some women do not find it pleasing or have some issues with chafing from it.  At that point, they elect to do a labiaplasty. There are always risks with surg...
Are there plastic surgery schools near Tampa that offer a discount for a tummy tuck?
Are there plastic surgery schools near Tampa that offer a discount for a tummy tuck?
Nov 20, 2018
Medical training does not work like "Beauty Schools" in which you can get a discounted hair cut or color from a student working on their aesthetician license.  Medical training involves medical school, residency surgical training, and then specialty training.  All of these steps are overseen by an attending physician or surgeon (residents are like apprentices).  Universities with residents in training offer cosmetic procedures, but these are not at discounted rates.  A cosmetic fee differ...
