There was a subcutaneous fat (under the skin) and a visceral fat ( inside the belly).
Based on your photos it seems you also have a visceral fat component, so loosing some weight prior to your procedure would improve your results.

Total abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is a procedure that the skin and fat of your belly is elevated at the level of the ribs, so all the blood supply to it will come from the sides. Using the liposuction could increase the risk to damage those blood vessels.
Some plastic surgeons combine the liposuction with a mini-abdominoplasty where the skin and fat is elevate at the area below the belly button.
