It appears that a suture or stitch has poked through your skin after the surgery. I would advise you to see your plastic surgeon so that she/he can remove the suture. This is not uncommon. Good luck!

If the prominence of your ears bother you, then I would advise you to have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss otoplasty options. Many patients benefit from an otoplasty and the technique can be specified to accommodate your needs.

It is normal to have bruising and swelling during the first couple weeks after an otoplasty. The blisters will go away. They are likely from the bandage and will heal. The suture that you see looks like a dissolvable suture. I would advise your to return to your plastic surgeon to have her/him fully evaluate the ear and trim the suture. Good luck healing!

Not all plastic surgeons have a significant experience in otoplasty. I would suggest meeting with a few surgeons and looking at their otoplasty photos. It is important that their aesthetic matches yours. All surgeons are able to perform the surgery under local anesthetic. But having the surgery performed under local will mean that you will be awake the entire time and hear the surgeon's conversation with her/his nurse. Not every patient feels comfortable...

No two ears are the same. Luckily, you never view both ears at once. Otoplasty will help remove excess cartilage and skin from your left ear so that it will look more like your right ear. Itching from the bandage is normal. One side hurting more than the other can be an indication that something is wrong. I would call your surgeon so that he/she can remove the bandage and check to make sure nothing is pressing too hard on your ear. Sometimes the bandages can be too tight. Good luck with your recovery!

It is not uncommon for a little piece of the suture to poke through your skin. Often surgeons use dissolvable sutures around the nipple and sometimes they push through your skin. I would advise you to return to your plastic surgeon to have him/her take a look. Good luck with your recovery!

I have many patients who come to New York to undergo a breast augmentation. I advise them to stay in the city for 10-14 days before returning home. I also advise them to check their luggage as it will be difficult to place bags in an overhead compartment. As you are more likely to have blood clotting after surgery, it is important to walk around on the plane every other hour. Good luck!

Congratulations on your surgery! I always advise my patients to drink a lot of water and eat a significant amount of protein after surgery. Multivitamins are a great idea. Look for one which includes vitamin C, Zinc, and Vitamin A. A high fiber diet is also beneficial particularly as pain medication can be very constipating. Good luck!

All surgeons have different post-operative protocols. In my office, I ask patients to limit heavy lifting and very active exercise for six weeks. It would be difficult to lift your daughter from her crib and to carry her if she is upset. But you can definitely hug her and snuggle with her. I would have someone else around during bedtime and early in the morning for those first six weeks. Good luck!

About 10% of patients find that they have a change in nipple sensation after breast augmentation. Often this is due to inflammation around the nerves which innervate your nipples. Usually it resolves in a few months. It is very normal to have more or less sensation at two weeks. Good luck healing!

It is best to speak directly with your plastic surgeon as each surgeon has a different post-operative protocol. I often have patients who fly into New York to undergo surgery. I allow them to fly home 10-14 days later. I advise them to check their luggage as it will be difficult to put anything in the overhead. Have a wonderful trip!

Dermal fillers work very well to camouflage facial asymmetries, especially in the lip region. The fillers can increase fullness and improve definition, correcting your crooked smile. The common fillers used in the United States are made of hyaluronic acid. I would make sure to go to a physician who often injects the lips as they can easily be overdone. Good luck!
