Will insurance cover me? I have asymmetrical tuberous breasts
Congenital tuberous breast correction
Feb 18, 2021
Dear Izzybelle212,As my colleagues have indicated, correction of your breast shape, size, position and asymmetry could be achieved by rearranging your breast tissue and adding implants for volume. Although it is uncommon for insurance companies to cover breast lifts and implants, some will cover correction of congenital deformities. It may be worthwhile to look into this option. All the best.Jay Meisner MD FACS
Will my reconstructed breasts look closer and less squished eventually?
Breast reconstruction and healing
Mar 31, 2018
Thank you for your question. You appear from your photo that you have had an excellent early reconstructive result. It has been only two weeks since you implant exchange. The healing process will take several months, and you are likely to heal with some softening and relaxation. Your implant positions appear appropriate and symmetric. It is possible your implants could not be positioned closer together due to your anatomy. You should discuss your concerns...
Can I go down to a C size from an E?
Breast reduction
Mar 31, 2018
Thank you for your inquiry. Breast reduction surgery, properly performed, should be able to reduce and lift most larger breasts to almost any desired size. There should be no issue or significant risk to reduce an E cup to a C cup. It is very important that you find a board certified Plastic Surgeon with extensive experience and expertise in breast reduction surgery who will listen to your request and properly evaluate you preoperatively. Good luck!
What kind of procedures would I need to achieve "normal" looking breasts?
Subtle breast augmentation
Oct 18, 2017
Thank you for contacting RealSelf. An in-person detailed consultation and examination by an experienced board certified plastic surgeon would be the best way for you to make an informed decision with regard to your specific wishes. Often a conservative breast augmentation can correct mild differences in breast size as well as correct mild ptosis (droopiness). I recommend that you see more than one well-qualified plastic surgeon in the New York area before deciding on the...
Tuberous breast specialist
Tuberous breast evaluation and correction
Mar 14, 2017
The tuberous breast deformity is quite variable, and includes narrowing of the base of the breast and herniation (bulging) of breast tissue and enlargement of the areola. Often tuberous breasts are quite different in shape and size. Every patient is different and must be carefully evaluated before any surgery is performed. I have found that correction of tuberous breasts is not only physically desirable, but it is often of great emotional benefit. I am not sure there...
Looking for tuberous breast experts in NYC area
Tuberous breast surgery - do your research!
Jan 4, 2016
Tuberous breast deformities vary from very mild to quite significant. I recommend you research potential doctors and then schedule consultations with those most qualified. See several board certified plastic surgeons who have expertise in breast augmentation, breast reconstruction. and revisional breast surgery. Ask if they've performed correction of tuberous breasts. It's then very important to develop a comprehensive treatment plan, as each patient may have a...
2 yrs after nipple sparing mastectomy left breast drop. Is it medically necessary to fix it?If not insu
Post-mastectomy revisions must be covered!
Aug 8, 2015
Without knowing your medical and surgical history, I can't be sure why your reconstructed breast has changed (implant deflation or rupture is possible). You should seek the expertise of your plastic surgeon, or if not feasible, a board-certified plastic surgeon with expertise in revisional post-mastectomy breast surgery. The good news is: according to Federal Law, any and all procedures related to post-mastectomy reconstruction must be covered by health insurance companies,...
Can a plastic surgeon remove a lump in my breast and put implants in at the same time?
See a breast surgeon first
Jun 26, 2015
Prior to any elective breast augmentation, it is imperative that this lump is fully evaluated. There are many causes of nipple retraction, and a qualified breast surgeon should determine its nature and if any treatment is necessary. If the cause is non-cancerous, you may proceed for evaluation for breast augmentation.
Possible capsular contracture 2 months post op?
See your plastic surgeon
Jun 26, 2015
It is possible to develop capsular contracture at any time after breast augmentation surgery. In your case, the settling of submuscular breast implants may progress at different rates for each side. I would recommend you see your plastic surgeon to examine you and provide the best recommendations.
Dull pain and sudden slight asymmetry 6 years after silicone breast augmentation. Is this normal?
See your plastic surgeon!
Jun 26, 2015
Any subtle change in pain and volume of one augmented breast should be looked at by a qualified plastic surgeon. Although there may be nothing wrong, there is a possibility of scar tissue formation (capsular contracture), implant failure, or a breast issue unrelated to the implant. Please do not hesitate to see a board-certified plastic surgeon for evaluation of this new finding.
Liposuction of the upper arms or brachioplasty?
Approach this cautiously...
Jun 24, 2015
Before considering any type of body contouring surgery, you may want to look at options for weight reduction, after which you are likely to heal better. Despite your relative youth and skin quality, it is likely that liposuction alone would just reduce the fat component but leave behind excess skin. Although surgical brachioplasty removes both excess fat and skin using a long scar, this scar may be positioned midway between the front and back of the arm to lessen its visibility...
