Hoping for suggestions to achieve a more natural looking belly button?
Belly Buttons Matter!
Apr 24, 2020
Hello
When performing a tummy tuck, the skin is usually shortened top to bottom (vertically), but there can be extra skin side to side (horizontally). While the sides can be pulled in with some success, if there is a lot of extra skin in that plane, it will sometimes bunch in the middle. It can also fold the skin around the new belly button, making it hard to see the shape that was made.
The other thing to remember is that tummy tucks create a lot of change and they take a long time to…
What kind of tummy tuck will be ideal for me? Or what would you recommend?
The Mommy Tummy – It’s Not Just Skin Deep
Apr 23, 2020
Pregnancy changes everything- everything! While the skin gets stretched and pouches of fat do form, there are also a lot of changes to the underlying muscles and layers called fascia. When the fascia is weak, it can’t hold the belly together anymore, and things will seem to fall out all over the place. Also, weak fascia will fail to hold the muscles in alignment, and make your core lose functionality.
A tummy tuck can remove extra loose skin, fat, and also tighten the muscles and…
Will Ideal Implants be available in Europe?
Will IDEAL implants go abroad?
Apr 15, 2020
Although they are not yet available outside of the United States, IDEAL implants are an excellent potential product for the European markets. Global trends in implant preferences show that many patients are favoring saline implants, as a lower maintenance alternative with a good safety profile.
As implant technologies continue to progress and evolve, there is a good chance that this device will be sold abroad, or that European manufacturers will develop similar products.
Keep in mind…
How will I achieve this look after explant?
Explantation and Plane Change
Apr 14, 2020
Hi!
Everyone has a different response to removing implants. A lot of what you can expect depends on what the quality of the breast tissue is, how thick and elastic the skin is, and what size implant was placed. If the skin has little elasticity (which is the amount it springs back, not the amount it stretches when pulled), it may sag after explantation. If the breast tissue is thin, underwent changes through weight variations or pregnancy, or was flattened by a large implant over a…
I’m planning breast augmentation, do I have tubular breasts?
What is Tuberous Breast?
Feb 12, 2020
It is difficult to make a specific assessment without a proper exam, but you should know that tuberous breast occurs on a continuum- it is possible to have a mild case.
The elements of tuberous breast include a tight breast base that looks like someone has a band around it, with the rest filling out like a muffin top. The areolas also tend to be wide and the breast generally feels and looks tight.
In patients who do have tuberous breast, the problems is twofold: 1. fill out the volume and 2….
Do I require a lift along with the 400cc high profile implant I’m hoping to go with?
Symmetry Matters More Than Size
Feb 12, 2020
The first principle of breast enhancement is to create a shape that looks like a breast and balances with the overall frame. The second principle is to provide symmetry, because even 2 beautiful breasts will look less beautiful if they don’t look like each other. Sometimes a lift is required either to lift both breasts or to even one out to the other.
In terms of lifting, an implant can give the breast some lift, and it can also fill out volume that can re-create upper pole fullness. Very…
What kind of work would be recommended for my breasts and would I need a lift?
Can an Implant Lift a Breast?
Jan 31, 2020
Hello
When you increase breast volume by placing an implant, the skin stretches onto the implant, and sometimes it can give you a lift. The amount of lift depends a lot on the shape, profile, and size of the implant, as well as the breast tissues and skin envelope.
Most of the time, lifting becomes necessary only if the nipple is too low, and it may not be needed simply because there is little breast tissue on the upper part of the breast.
The goal of a lift is to get the right…
Areola correction or areola tattoo?
Can You Make a Wide Areola Smaller?
Jan 31, 2020
Hello
Augmentation mastopexy is a challenging procedure, because those 2 things work against each other by nature. When the pressure from the implant pushes harder than the tissues can handle, they will fight back as they are trying to get tighter.
The problem with a wide, stretched areola is that simply tightening the skin around it will probably lead to even more tension on the scars, and they may stretch out even more or become more irregular in the end. Permanent suture can help hold…
Am I Bottoming out? Or normal?
What is Bottoming Out?
Jan 31, 2020
Hello
The IDEAL implant is a terrific product, but as with any implant, things can go wrong.
Because this implant is saline, if it deflates, it will become smaller as the fluid is absorbed.
While it is impossible to judge just based on photos, I recommend that you consult with a Board Certified Surgeon with experience in using the IDEAL to see if there may have been a slight deflation.
As far as bottoming out is concerned, that is usually a situation when the breast tissue itself falls…
Can a breast lift scar be elevated surgically?
Vertical lift – 2D approach to 3D problem
Jan 11, 2020
Hello
When only a vertical incision is used, the breast is narrowed effectively, but it is not shortened as well top to bottom. If the tissue gets shortened but the skin does not, then the scar can extend past the new, raised, breast fold.
In some cases, performing the skin shortening procedure by removing skin at the fold can line the scars back up to where the breast is.
You should discuss this with a board certified surgeon who has…
Is there any hope of not having a free nipple graft for a breast reduction when the distance
Do You Need a Free Nipple Graft?
Dec 28, 2019
The traditional teaching was that if you had to move the nipple a very long way, it would not survive. That was why a free nipple graft was done in those circumstances. The truth is that with better surgical techniques and a good understanding of blood supply in that area, a free nipple graft can often be avoided. Many very large reductions can be done and the nipple preserved, especially with the right surgical approach. In case there is a problem with the nipple later, it can always…

Will Insurance Cover My Breast Reduction?
Dec 28, 2019
Every insurance plan is different, and they have different criteria for coverage. There is a formula based on your height and weight that determines how much should be removed to make this procedure “medically necessary.” There are also many other criteria they consider, such as other methods tried to alleviate pain, chiropractor visits, and different bras. The truth is that nothing will make the breasts smaller except reducing them, but navigating the system can be difficult. I…
I am 51 yrs. 4 kids. 38 or 40 DD, I also fit DDD. Would like reducing and lift. No implants i
Why Do Breast Reductions Include Implants?
Dec 28, 2019
For most breast reduction techniques, tissue is removed and the breast is pulled up from below. The tissue that is left is often not re-positioned effectively, and that leaves a lot of empty room on the top part. In order to manage this problem, many surgeons add implants to their reductions, even though the reductions are starting with extra breast to begin with.
Breast reduction overall is often a life-changing procedure. Your back feels better, your posture improves, you can wear…
Can I still get a breast lift possibly with augmentation with large areolas?
Management of Large Areolas
Dec 28, 2019
Based on this photograph, it would be challenging to completely reduce the areolas using conventional methods. You may do best with a staged, or 2-step surgery to lift the breast and reduce as a first stage and then augment and reduce more as a second stage. With good tissue re-positioning, an implant may not be required, and with advanced technique, a single stage intra-areolar reduction could produce a good result. You would need to review all of these options with an appropriately…
Would I qualify for more of a lift or lift with implants?
No Implant Breast Lift
Dec 28, 2019
A breast lift is often performed like a small reduction- which means that some tissue is taken out. This makes the breast smaller and also does not solve the problem of tissue re-positioning. Based on your photos you appear to have plenty of volume. If this volume is preserved and also re-positioned properly, you can achieve probably achieve upper pole fullness and not need an implant. The effect of this approach can create a lot of lift and the illusion of more volume. If you wanted to be…
