Will 25 lbs of weight loss effect my tummy tuck results? Making my stomach saggy again?
Weight loss after a tummy tuck.
Feb 21, 2016
Thank you for your question.I usually recommend getting as close as you can to your goal weight prior to surgery.  You will typically get a more lasting result, and more of the excess skin can be excised.  Your exam will be helpful in determining the benefit of losing those additional pounds.  Find a board certified plastic surgeon near you who makes you feel comfortable.Best regards,Spencer Eagan M.D.Kansas City, KS
Do I need a tummy tuck or a liposuction? I'm also looking to do a liposuction on my flanks. (Ph
Tummy tuck vs Lip?
Feb 21, 2016
Based on your images, it does not look like you need a tummy tuck.  You do not seem to have much excess skin.  If you have had babies, you may have some stretching of your abdominal wall but even that is not overly apparent based on your images.  An exam would essential in determining what if any surgical intervention you would benefit from.  Liposuction is helpful for focal areas of excess fat, and the shrinking of your skin would be determined by age/skin elasticity.  I would seek out...
Tummy Tuck Pleating will it smooth out over time?
Will the pleating smooth out?
Feb 17, 2016
You are correct that it is still too early to judge.  I tell my patients that it takes at least 3-6 months before you will see stability of the result.  Pleating and upper flap swelling tend to smooth out quite a bit with time.  Congratulations on your recent procedure.Best regards,Spencer Eagan M.D.Kansas City, KS
Does 5 lbs. make a difference either way?
Does 5 lbs matter.
Feb 17, 2016
Thank you for the question and pictures. Based on the images, you
look like you are a great candidate for a tummy tuck. You will get your
best result by reaching your goal weight prior to surgery, but typically 5 lbs either way will not make a difference.  The more important aspect is getting to a weight that you have shown you can maintain. Make sure you
see a board certified plastic surgeon who is willing to show you before and
after photos of their work. Best regards,Spencer Eagan M.D...
Loose skin/fat after weight loss. When would the right time to undergo surgery for excess skin?
Timing for surgery
Feb 17, 2016
Thank you for your question. First off, congratulations on your weight loss!  Typically, you will get the best result by getting close (within 10 lbs) to your goal weight first.  That being said, I am not sure if it will be feasible for you to lose 50 more pounds based on your pictures.  You will want to be at a stable weight for at least 3 months.  As you lose more weight, it will accentuate your excess skin.  This will allow more of the excess skin to be excised and ultimately give...
How much weight should I lose?
How much weight to lose?
Feb 15, 2016
Thank you for the question and pictures. Based on the images, you
will likely be a great candidate for a tummy tuck. You are correct that losing more weight will accentuate your excess skin.  But your surgeon will likely be able to excise more of the excess skin if you get to within 10 pounds of your goal weight.  With this scenario you will get a more lasting result. Find a board certified plastic surgeon in your area.  A physical examination will be more helpful in order for your...
Where can I get the best Tummy tuck?
Where to go?
Feb 15, 2016
Thank you for your question.  I would start by looking up board plastic surgeons in your area.  Consider meeting with 2-3 in order to find one that makes you feel the most comfortable.  Make sure they are able to show you before and after images.  I would focus more on who makes you feel the most comfortable than just price.  This will be an investment in yourself for the rest of your life.  You are better off spending a little more to get the result you want.
Do I need a Tummy Tuck or lipo? How much would it cost?. 180 lb 5'3
Tummy Tuck vs Lipo
Feb 15, 2016
Thank you for the question and pictures.  Based on the images, you will likely get more benefit from a tummy tuck.  Liposuction will likely only accentuate the excess skin that you already see.  You will get your best result by reaching your goal weight prior to surgery.  Make sure you see a board certified plastic surgeon who is willing to show you before and after photos of their work.
Which cup size after my breast reduction?
Ideal breast size
Aug 30, 2015
You ask a very good question. The goal size is determined after a detailed discussion with your surgeon. I try to find a size that will relieve the symptoms and still fit the individual's frame. "Cup" sizes are incredibly variable. If you go to 10 bra manufacturers, you may end up 4 different "cup" sizes. This is why it is so important to talk to your surgeon and relay your goals/expectations. You will get the best results if you are at a stable...
What is the best option for me, tummy tuck or lipo?
Tummy Tuck or Lipo?
Aug 30, 2015
Thank you for the question and providing the pictures. Based on your images, the procedure that would likely give you the best result would be a standard tummy tuck with liposuction of your flanks. Liposuction alone will likely give you the appearance of having even more excess skin, and you would not be happy with the overall result. Every patient is different, and a physical exam is much more powerful than looking at pictures. Find a board certified plastic...
Is this how my belly button is supposed to look?
Belly button
Aug 30, 2015
Thank you for your question.Without pre-operative photos, it is hard to provide comments on your current result. Three weeks out from this type of surgery is still very early. Your body will still be changing and settling for months to come. I would keep trying to get ahold of your surgeon who should be able to guide you through the healing process.Best regards,Spencer Eagan M.D.
Does the tummy tuck help my chances of getting diabetes?
Tummy tuck and diabetes
Aug 30, 2015
Thank you for your question. I hope you are having an uneventful recovery. I am not aware of any data supporting how a tummy tuck can cause or deter the onset of diabetes. Significant weight loss and gain can alter blood sugar control. If you are pre-diabetic I would talk with your PCP about further risk reduction strategies.Best regards,Spencer Eagan M.D.
Loose skin and stretch marks on lower abdomen and umbilical hernia. Do I need a mini, hybrid, o
Full tummy tuck will give the best result
Aug 30, 2015
Thank you for the question and providing the pictures. You will ultimately get the best result with a full tummy tuck procedure. Your hernia, belly button position, and rectus diastasis would be corrected at the same time. The length of the scar would be determined by your excess skin based on the exam. The scar is typically kept low so that it can be hidden with standard underwear. Few people in my practice are candidates for a mini tummy tuck, and I agree...
Can I get a breast lift and a tummy tuck at the same time?
Tummy tuck and breast lift
Aug 27, 2015
Thank you for the question.A tummy tuck and breast lift are procedures commonly performed at the same time. Safety is the most important consideration when performing these procedures together. The key is finding an experienced plastic surgeon who is able to perform the operation efficiently while minimizing blood loss. Best Regards,Spencer Eagan M.D.
Can this be necrosis?
Necrosis
Aug 27, 2015
It is hard to tell exactly what is going on based on the picture. I would set up an evaluation by your plastic surgeon so they can examine you. If you are having fever or increased pain, I would make sure you are evaluated as soon as possible.Best regards,Spencer Eagan M.D.
