Would I be a candidate for breast reduction/lift and full tummy tuck? Age 42, prior abdominal surge
Mommy Makeover
Aug 20, 2021
Thank you for this question & for sharing a bit of your surgical history. You may be a good candidate for a mommy makeover, however, there is more information your surgeon would need to obtain both from your medical history and physical exam such as any other abdominal surgeries and subsequent hernia formation. The history of abdominal surgery does increase your risks of wound healing issues, circulation issues to the soft tissue and potential need for other procedures to address hernias if...
Is it dangerous to have had over 6 breast lifts?
Breast Lifts
Aug 19, 2021
Thank you for asking this question. With any surgery, scar tissue and changes in blood supply to the tissue occurs. The more surgeries, the more the scar tissue formation and the risks of wound healing issues and subsequent breast deformities i.e. nipple necrosis, fat necrosis, etc.). There are several factors related risks regarding your multiple surgeries: surgical technique used, reason for recurrent drooping, related complications to previous surgeries, your overall health. Discuss this...
Hardening or softening of the implant. Is something going on with the implant?
Changes in the Feel of Breast Implants
Aug 17, 2021
Thank you for your question! It is not uncommon, but scar tissue forms around any foreign body in your body. Your description is consistent with a capsular contracture which is aggressive scar tissue that forms around breast implants. They can cause a firmness of the implant, change in appearance of the breast and even pain if severe enough. You should follow up with your surgeon for this to be addressed surgically with removal of the implant and the capsule. All the best to you!
Are there any Miami docs out there that do not require anything other then pregnancy test?
Pre-Operative Testing
Aug 16, 2021
Thank you for this question! Pre-operative labs and testing is for your safety and done at the discretion of the surgeon. If you are a smoker or use nicotine-containing products, this can affect your overall outcome with healing and infection risk. Many overlook the fact that surgery is a very serious thing to consider. You want to have the best outcomes possible and your surgeon (should) also want that for you. A patient’s health has considerable impact of surgical risks and outcomes. T...
Would dermal fillers be a good solution for my acne?
Acne Scars
Aug 23, 2019
This is a great question, Grace877!
You would actually be a great candidate for microneedling. This is a treatment that takes advantage of the body's natural wound healing mechanism to stimulate collagen and dermal thickening that will then improve the pits from acne scarring. You may have heard of PRP or Platelet-Rich Plasma which can be added to help improve that process. I wish you all the best!
Should I pursue microneedling for my skin problems?
Microneedling
Jul 31, 2019
This is a great question! Microneedling is a great adjunct to a great skin regimen. It is helpful in improving acne scars and the overall tone of the facial skin. It's difficult to tell with some of the lighting, but microneedling would help with some of the acne scars, but even more importantly, a good skin regimen that can help with oil production, acne occurrences and poor size. Microneedling is contraindicated in areas with active inflammation and infection, which...
Will 520 or 560cc get me my wish boobs?
Larger Implants
Apr 3, 2019
Thank you for your question! You have a great outcome! As your surgeon probably discussed with you, there are a lot of factors that go into sizing not only with your goals, but also your body measurements and overlying tissue coverage. Often with larger implants, they stretch the skin and over time begin to look hang low due to the size, your soft tissue and gravity. Implants are not lifetime devices and will at some point need to be exchanged. It's not...
If it is encapsulated, how soon should I have it treated?
Capsular Contracture
Apr 3, 2019
This is a good question and I'm sorry you had this experience. It's difficult to answer this question without a history, physical exam and to know what your surgeon did, but it isn't uncommon for the implant to appear to be high-riding with sub-pectoral placement especially if you've got large pectoralis muscles. Also, it is unlikely you have a capsular contracture this soon after surgery. It can be frustrating especially since you had the initial implants removed for...
I'm 5 weeks postoperative tummy tuck and the incision is healing well and in some spots I see pink.
Incision Color Change
Apr 1, 2019
This is a great question! The healing process is an inflammatory process. Even when there is no infection, there can be a pink appearance along any area that is healing (i.e. when you skin your knee and the area immediately around the injured area is pink). As the healing process progresses, there will be many changes in the coloration. You are very early in the healing process and should speak with your plastic surgeon about the incision appearance and the healing....

Compression Garment After Tummy Tuck
Apr 1, 2019
LJRMW,
Thank you for your question. There is a lot of conflicting information depending on where you look and who you ask. Every plastic surgeon is a bit different when it comes to her/his post-operative protocol based on their experience. It's so important to speak with you plastic surgeon and ask these very important questions. Because they are the one who performed your surgery and know the technique used and know your unique tissue, they will be the best to...
I had a DVT from a past knee surgery. Is it safe to have lipo and/or TT with a history of DVT?
History of DVT After Knee Surgery
Apr 1, 2019
Having a history of DVT does put you at risk for another DVT. During your pre-operative evaluation, this should be discussed. Particularly if there is a family history of clotting, what they deemed the cause of your past DVT to be and need for any anticoagulation in the future. This is also something to keep in mind not only with future surgeries, but with any long-term traveling as well.
3 weeks post op f/TT; major complications and headed in for 2nd surgery. Is this the best treatment
Skin Necrosis After Tummy Tuck
Apr 1, 2019
Thank you for your question and I'm so sorry you're going through this. The plan that was given by you Plastic Surgeon is appropriate. Removal of all the necrotic tissue is most appropriate to decrease infection risk and promote healing. The VAC dressing can help improve healing time and just as a matter of convenience to you. Other dressing options are available, but may require multiple changes a day and may take longer to heal. Continue to follow up with your...
I was wondering if my under boob tattoos would be distorted in the process of getting a breast redu
Tattos and Breast Reduction
Mar 20, 2019
This is a great question! It's difficult to say from the 2nd picture as I don't know where on the body that tattoo is, but the flower tattoo may have some distortion where it is in the inframammary fold. It may be just a portion of it and I'm sure your surgeon could make some slight adjustments so the scar doesn't come across the tattooed areas. Tattoos below the inframammary fold should be okay. Tattoos that are in "bra-covering areas" will probably be cut across...
I had a mole removed on the tip of my nose and it left an indent. Please help, what are my options?
Nose Scar
Feb 20, 2019
I'm sorry you experienced this. Microneedling may be a good option for you. It is often used for acne scars where there is severe indentation. It stimulates collagen production to help even out the scar. Platelet-rich plasma can be used with it to help with that healing process. Many offices offer it and it may help you with your situation. All the best.
What are these small, red bumps after chemical peel?
Red Sores After Skin Peel
Feb 20, 2019
Thank you for your question and I'm sorry you're experiencing this. This could be a few things and it is important for you to reach out to the person who performed your skin peel. If you have a history of cold sores and were not given a prophylactic course of acyclovir, these could be herpetic lesions that have a risk of worsening and developing a bacterial infection. Alternatively (and less severe), it could be a result of re-epithelialization after the peel. There...
