5 weeks post op, How long should I wait for sexual activity after Breast Augmentation?
Five Week Dilemma
Nov 18, 2014
The average patient is ready to be touched at around 6 weeks. Sensitivity to pain or pressure at this stage is very individualized. Squeezing the breasts will not rupture the implant but excessive force around them at this stage does have the potential to move them. Make sure you visit with your surgeon and get the ‘go ahead’ and have she/he answer any questions and address your concerns. That said, you are well on your road to recovery and resuming normal activity is expected.
What type of surgeries do I require to get my breasts looking normal again?
The Road to ‘Normal’
Nov 18, 2014
First of all, congratulations on your weight loss! It is disheartening though to lose the volume in our breasts after weight loss. From your photographs it is apparent that not only are they ‘deflated’, but they lack upper pole fullness as well. If you take the surgical route, it requires two procedures that can be performed at the same time or separately.A breast augmentation will fill the upper pole of the breast as well as take care of the lack of volume created by weight loss. The ptotic…
Do my breasts look normal for 9 weeks post-op?
Too High or a Capsule Contracture?
Nov 18, 2014
For the average patient it does take approximately 3 months for the breast to ‘settle’. What this means is that they drop slightly, are less full at the top and ‘belly out’. They also feel softer to the touch as the swelling in the tissue decreases. This takes time and patience on your part. At three months post op, it is a good time to see your surgeon. This way you can be examined for signs of capsular contracture. This is also the perfect time to communicate and discuss your…
When is it safe for my partner to touch my breasts normally and not worry after breast augmentation
Time To Wait
Nov 18, 2014
Generally by now they should be settled into the pocket and in good anatomical position.Five to six weeks post operatively is usually a scheduled time to see your surgeon and she/he will examine the implants and their position. This is a good time to ask your surgeon for the go ahead to treat them like natural breasts. If your surgeon says that everything is healing as expected, being “a little rougher” on the breast area is certainly dependent upon your own tolerance.I hope this helps…
Back to TE’s after exchange surgery? Am I possibly bringing lots of complications or less favorable
Additional surgery
Oct 13, 2014
Your surgeon may be basing her recommendation on the quality of your skin and may be concerned regarding the increased risks of complications if trying to place too large of an implant in too small of a pocket. You may also get a less favorable result without the use of a tissue expander to create a good pocket. Recommend that you discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon.Good Luck
Is it common to leave aerolas but not nipples during prophylactic BMX? Can it be done?
Areola sparing mastectomy
Oct 13, 2014
One can spare the areola at the time of the mastectomy without taking the nipples. It would be important to be sure they are positioned in the proper position on your chest wall at the time of surgery. Your history of radiation, can result in delayed healing due to compromised blood supply to the radiated tissue. In the US, a breast surgeon or general surgeon confident in mastectomy procedures performs the procedure in conjunction with a plastic surgeon. This may not…
Share concerns for stomach fat removal at same time as breast implants.
Combined procedures
Oct 13, 2014
If you have no significant medical issue, one can safely undergo an abdominal liposuction at the time of exchange of the tissue expanders to implants.
Can a facelift be combined with a full face phenol/croton oil peel?
Not a Good Combination
Dec 11, 2013
I would not recommend performing the facelift and a chemical peel during
the same procedure. The skin is undermined during a facelift, and the
additional stress of a peel may compromise healing. It would be best to wait
and stage these treatments. All the best to you and your aunt.
I have pixie ears as a result of neck surgery. What can be done?
Revision for Pixie Ears
Dec 11, 2013
I’m sorry to read about your results. Pixie ears following a facelift
are usually caused by skin being pulled too tightly, resulting in too much
tension on the earlobe. This can be revised as an in-office procedure. Contact
your plastic surgeon to explore your options, and don’t hesitate to consult a
different surgeon if you would prefer. Best wishes.
How long can I keep deflated saline implant in place?
Living With Deflated Implants
Dec 11, 2013
That’s an interesting question. I’m glad to hear you’re
giving so much careful consideration to your options. I’d say 2 to 3 months
would be a good extent of time to determine whether you prefer the smaller size.
Good luck with your decision!
Polythurane breast implants?
Polyurethane Implants Not Approved in U.S.
Dec 11, 2013
Polyurethane breast implants are not available in the U.S. because they
have not been approved by the FDA. They can be more difficult to remove. If you
want to have your surgery in the U.S., you will need to select a different
implant material. Discuss your goals with your plastic surgeon, who can help
you make a decision regarding the type of implant that is best for you. Best
wishes.
How do I find a doctor that will give me the best results for a breast reduction?
Finding a Qualified Surgeon
Dec 11, 2013
I’m sorry to hear about the pain you’ve been feeling, and I’m glad
you’ve decided to improve your well-being through breast reduction. I recommend
you seek consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. A list of
surgeons in your area can be obtained from the American Society of Plastic
Surgeons® website. You will want to ask the surgeons you meet with how many
breast reduction procedures they have done, what techniques of reduction they
perform, and their complication rates. You…
If you have had a mastectomy can your natural breast and tissue exspander breast go a bigger size?
Larger Breasts Likely Possible
Dec 11, 2013
That’s an excellent question. Many women who have undergone a single or
double mastectomy would like to have larger breasts after reconstruction than
they had before. If you have not been radiated, you should be able to undergo
additional tissue expansion to stretch the skin. I recommend that you discuss
your concerns with your plastic surgeon, and don’t hesitate to get a second
opinion. All the best.
Outside Fat. I am scheduled to have a TT with lipo of the flanks?
Some Fat May Remain
Nov 21, 2013
Thanks for your question. I’m concerned that with your present height
and weight, it will be difficult to remove all of the excess fat of your love
handles with liposuction and tummy tuck surgery alone. Before any body
contouring procedure, most plastic surgeons recommend that patients are close
to their goal weight. Fat that is removed during these procedures should
ideally be stubborn fat that remains despite the patient having a good diet and
exercising regularly. In order to fully get…
Can I achieve upper pole fullness with a breast lift/reduction alone?
Fullness Without Breast Implants
Nov 21, 2013
Thanks for your question. Based on your photo, you appear to have
adequate volume to achieve natural-looking fullness of the upper pole without
the need for an implant. Experienced plastic surgeons can use a variety of
techniques to position your own breast tissue into a fuller shape. This is a
common concern for breast lift patients, but implants are usually only needed
if there isn’t much volume to begin with. Be sure to consult a surgeon who has
experience with a variety of forms of…
