Does a breast reduction change the nipple (areola really) size?
Changing areola size in breast reduction
May 12, 2015
Usually the breast reduction does change the areola size. The size of the areolas are classically approximately 40-42 millimeters in diameter. Often prior to a breast reduction the areolas are 50- 60 millimeters in diameter and therefore with the surgery comes not only with the reduction of the breast tissue but also of the areola. A discussion with the surgeon will be required to determine if there is anything that can be done.
My goal with my BA is to have full round soft looking breasts. How can I achieve this look?
Achieving full round soft breasts
May 12, 2015
The possibility of achieving of the look of full soft looking breasts would be to have implants that fit your body and that would not be overly large. Also if you have enough breast tissue such that the implants are behind a breast which has significant amount of tissue, then the breasts should maintain their softness. Then again the best plan is to pick implants which would not be too large for your frame.
If I want my breasts to sit higher can I use the same implants?
Breasts sitting higher using your current implants
May 12, 2015
Usually in order for the breast to be higher with the same implants, some type of a lifting procedure is required in order to decrease the amount of skin there is on the breast. This type of procedure does entail additional incisions and therefore a woman may just want to have larger implants.

Noticeable difference in a smaller implant and correcting a pocket

An implant 35 CCs smaller will probably cause a noticeable difference although it will probably not be very significant. Usually the pocket does not need to be corrected going from a larger to a smaller implant that is only 35 CCs different.
Can breast tissue that has herniated into the areola (puffy tubular nipples) be fixed without surgery?
Fixing tubular nipples
May 12, 2015
The answer to your question regarding puffy tubular nipples is that usually they cannot be fixed without surgery. Breast reduction on an 18 year old
May 7, 2015
If your breasts are large enough that they are causing problems with your neck, back or shoulders or there are problems with bra strap furrowing or hygiene problems or issues with exercise or clothing, you would be considered a good candidate. Breast reduction surgery has tremendous benefits and most women have found that they are immediately relieved of many of the prior symptoms that they had with the larger breasts. The satisfaction rate with patients with breast…
Asymmetric breasts before surgery and after. Any suggestions?
Asymmetry in breast augmentation
May 7, 2015
It can be very difficult sometimes to improve asymmetry in breasts. The plan is to get the breast as close to symmetrical as possible. Either way two weeks is still much to early to determine how symmetrical the breasts will become. It usually takes anywhere from six weeks to two months for the chest muscles to relax and for the implants to settle into place. The left side will decrease in terms of the high location on the chest. After two months if there is…
When do I take off my steristrips?
When do steristrips come off?
May 7, 2015
Usually steristrips will stay on from time of surgery to either one to two weeks after the procedure, After two weeks it is a good idea to have the steristrips off and begin silicone sheeting which is like a silicone band aid placed over the incision sites, the silicone strips can be purchased at any pharmacy over the counter and can placed on incisions for anywhere from two to four months.

The area which there is problem healing is a very common area for problems for patients with an anchor lift. The size can be anywhere from a small pearl size to a quarter or even a fifty cent piece size. Any open wound such as this is painful. The best way is to cover with antibiotic ointment and then place a bandage. If any of the open tissue is covered with a layer of antibiotic ointment, it seems to significantly decrease the discomfort. It also takes anywhere from…
I am African American, what can be done to avoid keloid scars with breast augmentation?
Keloid formation and steroids
May 7, 2015
Certainly people of color have a higher incidence of keloid scars. Probably the best way to decrease the possibility for unsightly scar would be at the time of surgery steroid can be injected into the incision, or after one to two weeks steroid injections can be injected into the scar. Steroid does have an effect to decrease the abundant collegan formation. Also silicone sheeting which can be purchased at many of the pharmacies over the counter can be useful within two to…
Breast reduction-Drains vs No Drains
Will you need drains with a breast reduction?
May 5, 2015
Plastic surgeons are split on the issue of drains versus no drains. I have done many hundreds of breast reductions and do not drain any of the breasts. Other surgeons feel very comfortable with drains. Either way is satisfactory.

Breast reduction, can I be a C cup if I’m starting with a 42H bra?
May 5, 2015
It does seem as though most likely a C cup would be difficult to perform since your breasts do appear to be very large. Probably a large D would be more reasonable.
