Why is my clitoris hidden and why did my clitoral hood get bigger after clitoral hood reduction
Recovering from Labiaplasty
May 1, 2019
I advise my patients not to look down there for the first few days as things can be very scary and swollen. Be patient and do not judge your results just yet. You are very swollen at one day post op and over the next 6-8 weeks you will see a significant reduction in the amount of swelling you have. Things will continue to look better with time. If you still don’t have the results that you were hoping for 3-6 months down the road then you should discuss your options for revision with you …

Swelling after Surgery
May 1, 2019
Hi Rose,Thank you for your photos and question. Three weeks is still early in the post operative period. Your swelling should continue to go down and things will continue to look even better. If you are still not happy with the amount of tissues removed at around 3-6 months post op, then I would recommend speaking with your surgeon about revision options. Be patient. I hope this helps.Cheri A. Ong, MD
Can you use scar cream after a clitoral hood reduction?
Scar creams after labiaplasty
May 1, 2019
If you are worried about scarring after labiaplasty or clitoral hood reduction I would discuss your concerns with your surgeon. Luckily, this area tends to hear very well and scars are often barely visible. I find the patients who have the best outcomes after surgery are the ones who follow all of their pre and post op instructions. Make sure to follow all of your post op instructions and discuss with your surgeon the best products to use and when to start using them.I hope this helps!Cheri …

Is there a “vaginal rejuvenation” laser that works for stress incontinence in a pre-menopausal woman who’s never been pregnant?

ThermiVa is a noninvasive radio frequency treatment for the treatment of laxity, orgasmic dysfunction, vaginal dryness and incontinence. This could be a great option for someone like you who has not had children. The results that I have seen in my own patients for the treatment of leaky bladder or incontinence has been truly remarkable. 100% of my patients have seen an improvement and many women see an improvement as early as a few days after the first treatment. It has truly been a p…

Tanning after surgery
Apr 26, 2019
It should not be a problem to get some sun in a bikini or biker shorts. They even have UV resistant clothing and suits that can be helpful and offer even more protection. A spray tan or lotion is also a great alternative. I would also check with your surgeon to be cleared before you consider going for a swim. I hope this helps.Cheri A. Ong, MD
First week after labiaplasty and I popped a stitch, will it heal properly?
Recovering from Labiaplasty
Apr 26, 2019
This is likely to heal on its on. Keep and eye on it and follow your surgeons instructions. Try your best to take it easy for these first few weeks of healing. Be patient and know that things should continue to look better with time. I hope this helps. My very best, Cheri A. Ong, MD

Recovering from Labiaplasty
Apr 26, 2019
At three weeks you post op you are still very early in the recovery period. Itching is very normal at this point and there is still swelling in the area. It takes 6-8 weeks for a majority of the swelling to go down and 3-6 months to see your final result. Be patient and make sure to discuss any concerns with your surgeon. I hope this helps!Cheri A. Ong, MD
3 days post wedge labiaplasty. Am I healing okay? Does it look normal?
Recovering from Labiaplasty
Apr 26, 2019
At 3 days post op you are very early in the healing period. Be patient. You will have a better idea of when things will look like at about 6-8 weeks after surgery. Complete healing takes about 3-6 months. Until then, be sure to follow your post op instructions and take things easy. I hope this helps! My very best,Cheri A. Ong, MD
Is this healing ok? 5 days post op.
Recovering from Labiaplasty
Apr 26, 2019
5 days is very early in the recovery period. I usually advise my patients not to look down there for a few weeks as things can look quite scary. Continue to follow your post op instructions and take things easy as you return to work. If the problem persist, you should call your surgeon otherwise be patient and give yourself time to heal. It takes 3-6 months to see the final result of your procedure.I hope this helps.Cheri A. Ong, MD

Recovering from Labiaplasty
Apr 26, 2019
At two weeks post op, you are still very early in the healing process. Your photo does not show your area of concern but my advice would be to call your surgeons office. I see out of town patients for surgery quite often. In the event that there is a concern there are ways to communicate and send photos that can be very helpful. I hope this helps! Cheri A. Ong, MD
Labiaplasty, nearly 3 weeks post-op. Is there anyway to ensure new growth of skin over open woun
Recovering from Labiaplasty
Apr 26, 2019
3 weeks is still very early in the healing process and swelling is expected. The best thing you can do is take it easy and follow your post op instructions. Continuing to ice the area should help to minimize swelling. Give it some more time and be sure to communicate your concerns with your surgeon. My very best,Cheri A. Ong, MD
is it possible that labia can start to re grow a bit ?
Labia regrowing
Apr 26, 2019
There can be changes to the labia for several reasons including hormones or with activities such as cycling or horseback riding. It is not likely that your labia will regrow the the size they were prior to surgery. I would schedule an appointment with your surgeon to check on how things are progressing and if anything needs to be done.My very best, Cheri A. Ong, MD

Recovering from Labiaplasty
Apr 26, 2019
It is still very early in the healing process. When you are swollen things can look quite scary. Give it some more time and make sure to follow all of your post op instructions. It can take months for the swelling to completely resolve. Once you are 3-6 months out from your surgery you can speak with your surgeon (or another one if you choose) about your options for revision. My very best,Cheri A. Ong, MD
1 day post clitoral hood reduction and worried something has gone wrong. Advice?
Recovering from Labiaplasty
Apr 16, 2019
The appearance immediately after surgery can be quite scary. It is hard to see what is going on from your picture but swelling is expected. It doesn’t hurt to call your surgeon if you are worried but the most important thing you can do is follow your post care instructions. Ice, Ice, Ice and make sure you take it easy. My very best,Cheri A. Ong, MD
Is the size of my clitoral hood normal?
You have normal anatomy
Apr 16, 2019
You are 100% normal and this is something that I see in my practice often. More and more women are seeking surgery for this are due to aesthetic and functional concerns. The rubbing and tugging of extra skin down there can be very uncomfortable in clothing. If you are bothered by it, then it is worth having a discussion with a qualified surgeon as to what could be done to help improve the discomfort your are having. Have an open discussion as to what bothers you about your labia.
