36 Year Old Miss Treated With Radiofrequency-assisted Liposuction On The Stomach Of The Abdomen Photo By Doctor Diane I. Duncan, MD, FACS, Fort Collins, Colorado (80525)

This 35 year old woman disliked the localized fat collection of the abdomen that occurred with hormonal change. Despite careful attention to diet and exercise, she could not correct the area on her own. We discussed traditional liposuction (SAL), and I let her know I was concerned that her skin might sag or buckle without additional soft tissue and skin tightening. Smart Lipo was another option, but the amount of skin surface tightening with that is only 13-17%. RFAL (radiofrequency-assisted liposuction) can generate a 26-34% skin surface area contraction over time without cutting skin out. By treating the tissue with radiofrequency at the time of liposuction, the remaining tissue becomes more taut, firm, and youthful, preserving a long term outcome.
